Everlywell testosterone test: how it compares with a walk-in test
Everlywell sells an at-home testosterone test. You collect a sample yourself, post it to a lab and read the result online. A walk-in test works differently: you order online, then have your blood drawn at a lab.
Both are ways to get a testosterone number without a doctor’s visit. This page sets out how they differ, using Everlywell’s own pages as they stood in October 2026.

What walk-in testing offers
A walk-in test is a blood draw at a lab, ordered online. MedlinePlus says most testosterone tests involve a blood draw in a medical setting, with a sample taken from a vein in your arm by a health care professional, and that this usually takes less than five minutes (MedlinePlus). It also says at-home kits exist, to talk to your provider if you think one is right for you, and to follow your provider’s instructions for collecting and returning the kit.
For the walk-in tests we show, the seller’s page says:
- It is a simple blood draw. No urine sample, swab or physical exam is involved.
- A general line, shared across many of its tests, says fasting is not required. Don’t read that as advice. The Endocrine Society guideline describes a fasting morning sample for diagnosis, so follow your lab order and see our fasting guide.
- Results appear in your online account within one to three business days.
- You pick the test: total only, free only, or both on one order.
With a kit, you post the sample to the lab yourself. Our guide to at-home vs lab testosterone tests goes through the trade-offs, and how walk-in labs work covers the steps.
Everlywell at a glance
As of October 2026, Everlywell’s product page for the Testosterone Test says:
- Price: $69. Shipping is free.
- What it measures: total testosterone, which it describes as including both free testosterone and the testosterone bound to proteins.
- Sample: a finger prick that you collect at home and mail in with a prepaid label.
- Results: “physician-reviewed results will be ready in your account in a few days.”
- Eligibility: you must be male and 18 or older to take this test.
- Review and lab: every test is reviewed by an independent board-certified physician within your state, and Everlywell says each lab it works with is CLIA-certified.
- Payment: FSA and HSA accepted.
- Fasting and time of day: the product page text we read does not give instructions for either. Follow the directions in the kit.
Everlywell also sells a Men’s Health Test, listed at $249 as of October 2026. It measures total testosterone, DHEA, cortisol and estradiol, using a finger prick and a saliva sample. That is a larger bundle than anything compared on this page. Our hormone panels guide covers the panels we do compare.
When Everlywell suits you better
- You would rather collect your sample at home than travel to a lab.
- You prefer a finger prick to a vein draw.
- You want physician-reviewed results delivered with lifestyle guidance, as the page describes.
- You want a bundle with DHEA, cortisol and estradiol in a single kit.
When a walk-in total testosterone test suits you better
- You want a free testosterone figure as well as total. Everlywell’s Testosterone Test measures total only. A walk-in order can be free only, or free and total on one order. See free vs total testosterone.
- You want a draw done for you and no kit to post back.
- You want a stated results window of one to three business days, rather than “a few days” after you post a sample, as Everlywell’s page puts it.
- You want to start with one test and add others only if you need them.
Is the Everlywell test accurate?
We haven’t tested kits, and we do not cite a study that compares Everlywell’s kit with a vein draw. So this page makes no claim about accuracy for or against it. Everlywell’s page says its labs are CLIA-certified and its results are physician-reviewed. Any lab test can be affected by how and when the sample is taken, so follow the directions that come with whichever test you choose.

Timing
Testosterone is usually measured on a morning sample. MedlinePlus says a provider will take the sample in the morning, between 7 and 10, when levels are typically highest. Our guide to the best time to test goes into more detail. If you use a kit, check its directions for when to collect.
What a result can and can’t tell you
A testosterone test on its own can’t diagnose a condition. MedlinePlus says abnormal results together with symptoms may be a sign of a health problem, and that the meaning depends on the type of test, your age, your symptoms and other results. If you have questions about a result, talk to your clinician.
